Shared values for effective dialogue - workshop 1

On the 7th May, 15 young people from North Tyneside explored and agreed the values needed for effective dialogue. Each group also chose a country as a focus for dialogue. This information is shown below. This work has been preparation for our event on dialogue night.

Our Agreed Values for Dialogue

Group 1 (Sam, Amy, Daniel and Stuart)

Chosen country - Morocco

Equality (to give the same opportunity regardless of faith, gender, race or culture)
Tolerance (accepting beliefs that are different to your own)
Cooperation (working together)
Respect (to accept the importance of other people’s rights)
Politeness (behaving in a way that is socially appropriate)
Freedom (being able to think, say and do what you think)
Philanthropy (making a difference)
Courage (standing up for what you believe is right)
Wisdom (using knowledge to make decisions)
Honesty (being truthful in your actions and being true to yourself and others)

Group 2 (Donna, Sarah, Jamie and Alex)

Love (to have feelings of affection for someone)
Philanthropy (making a difference)
Goodness (rather than evil)
Honesty (being truthful in your actions and being true to yourself and others)

Courage (standing up for what you believe is right)
Loyalty (being firm in the support of yourself and others)

Independence (freedom from the control of others)

Responsible (Showing consideration for others and doing your bit)
