28th and 29th April „guest from afar” visited Grundschule Erich-Kästner in Pössneck, Germany, and told about life in Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe and India. Pupils and teachers had worked on these countries in the previous weeks and were now very curious to hear more at first hand.
Within the next weeks teachers and pupils of Staatliche Grundschule Erich-Kästner will work on some MDG’s and children’s rights."
1. Primary school education: What do you learn in school? Why some children are not able go to school? What other ways of learning exist? (learning through story-telling)
On 3.4.08 we introduced the action “wishes” to all pupils and teachers of Staatliche Grundschule Erich-Kästner in Pössneck.
And this is what we did:
1. Explain who the UN is.
2. Explain the UN-Millennium development-goals, with focus on environment, primary school education for all children, accessibility of drinking water worldwide, reduction of poverty and hunger.
These are the lots we’ve created, which are going to be drawn by the pupils on Thursday, 3.4.2008. They are showing animals typically for the different countries, as an elephant for India, a lion for Zimbabwe, a paradise bird for Papua-New guinea and a toucan for Mexico.
On 20th February 200, we had met the school principal of Staatliche Grundschule Erich Kästner, Mrs. Krause, and fixed the details of the action.
There are 7 forms in the school, one 3rd form and two 1st, 2nd and 4th. forms.
1. On 3.April 2008 the pupils will get an introduction in the action and draw lots, regarding which country they will work upon.
