Jerusalem Conference for Youth Leadership 2008

Activities include large lectures, small-group discussions, study of texts on social justice and tolerance, workshops, and dialogue between Jewish and non-Jewish youth leaders about the vision and practicality of transforming Israel into a socially and economically just society for all citizens. Specific topics include issues of equal and environmentally sound development of the land benefiting all; the foundation values of freedom, justice and peace; equality of social and legal rights; cultural and educational freedom challenged by poverty in today’s Israel; international law. The conference will conclude with an “Independence Seder” which will model itself on the Jewish Passover seder ritual in both celebrating freedom while emphasizing the social responsibilities freedom demands.
