An international poetry translation workshop South meets North takes place at the International Writers and Translators House in Ventspils. The workshop brings together poets from Malta, Turkey, Algeria, Israel, and Latvia. Over the course of the one-week seminar, the poets’ works will be translated, via English translations and consultations between seminar participants, into Maltese, Turkish, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Latvian.
Objectifs (maximum de 50 mots):
Spreading knowledge and cultural awareness about the area its peoples and promoting continuous cultural debate. Under Agenda of 1001 Actions for Dialogue, workshop will help to introduce different cultures, translated poems are object of publication in internet and other media worldwide. As well as action will promote Anna Lindh Foundation.

An international poetry translation workshop South meets North, part of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue’s campaign “1001 Actions for Dialogue”, takes place at the International Writers and Translators House, in Ventspils, from May 5 through May 11. The poetry translation workshop brings together poets from Malta, Turkey, Algeria, Israel, and Latvia. Over the course of the one-week seminar, the poets’ works will be translated, via English translations and consultations between seminar participants, into Maltese, Turkish, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Latvian.

The poetry reading in original languages and translation will take place on Friday, May 9 at the International Writers and Translators House.
