At the base of all programmes of the Villa Decius Association lies the idea of meetings of representatives from various fields of science and culture from all over Europe. Through exchange of ideas and thoughts, they can explore mutual stimuli for creative work and advocate pluralism and dialogue in public life.

In memory of Sergio Vieira de Mello we are launching this year's prize for active involvement in peaceful coexistence of communities, religions and cultures. You are invited to nominate individuals or/and an NGO for their activities which took place in 2007. The closing date for nominations is 30th June 2008.

Established in 2003, the Sergio Vieira de Mello Prize aims at international promotion of democracy and tolerance through mobilising individuals to effective intercultural dialogue and their contribution to peaceful cohabitation of people of different cultural background.
