MIO-ECSDE is a Federation of Mediterranean NGOs for Environment and Sustainable Development and acts as a technical and political platform for the intervention of NGOs in the Mediterranean scene. Since 1991 MIO-ECSDE acts in order to promote networking, understanding and cooperation among the people of the Mediterranean, through NGOs, between NGOs and Governments, Parliaments, Local Authorities and socio-economic actors at all levels through various actions: capacity building seminars, joint campaigns, conferences, researches, etc. Main thematic areas of expertise are: Integrated Water Resources Management, Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Cultural & Biological Diversity, Tourism, Public Participation, Environmental Education & Education for Sustainable Development.
